Back in August, the Texas Startup Manifesto was released and Capital Factory announced plans to expand its accelerator program to include Dallas by having a presence at The Dallas Entrepreneur Center. After a successful launch, Dallas mentors accepted five Dallas startups to the accelerator and hosted more than 80 office hours sessions.
One of the ways Capital Factory intends to attract entrepreneurs to our network is with investment challenges that focus on particular industry segments, technologies, and geographies. In September, Capital Factory tried an experiment and hosted a challenge around gender and ethnic diversity that was incredibly successful. Not only did it attract applications from teams of diverse entrepreneurs, they were some of the most impressive startups we’ve seen yet! Congratulations to the winner Kiss and Tell who was awarded the $100,000 investment prize!
“I meet Black, Latino and female entrepreneurs every day who have great ideas and incredible passion but lack access to essential resources to build scalable, high growth businesses. We want to help create an authentic culture of inclusive entrepreneurship within the Texas tech ecosystem” — Preston L. James, II, CEO and Executive Director of DivInc
