Back in November, when I had the idea to launch Founders of Color (FOC), the first thing I decided to do was try to better understand the “lay of the land” as it related to minority entrepreneurship. In other words who was already active, what were they doing and how could FOC add value?
What I thought would be a relatively light lift, turned out to be a two-month process of online research, with me bookmarking sites and copy-and-pasting programs and initiatives into a spreadsheet. I thought to myself, “Good God! Is this what minority entrepreneurs have to do to find resources?”
Needless to say, the experience only reinforced my belief that there is a need and space for Founders of Color to make a real difference.
